Building energy conservation is one of the important research topics in the domestic construction industry. Its connotation is embodied in green and ecological aspects, which are closely related to ecological civilization and social progress. In recent years, the proportion of energy consumption in the construction industry has been high, which has gradually attracted the attention of the public.Improving the thermal insulation exterior walls is one of the most effective ways to reduce building energy consumption. The exterior wall insulation of our country is popularized by the north, but it is not suitable for the hot summer and cold winter area, which is mainly because different from the continuous central heating mode in the north, most buildings in the hot summer and cold winter area use air conditioning.Nowadays, the demand for air transfer energy is very high in the hot summer and cold winter area. Therefore, how to reduce the energy consumption of building air conditioning has become a problem we need to solve.Based on the typical office building in Wuhan in hot summer and cold winter area, this paper uses the DeST-C energy consumption simulation software developed by Tsinghua University to simulate the cold and hot load of the building model year by year with the same other building parameters and only modifying the heat transfer coefficient of the external wall and the energy mode of air conditioning.and use the whole life cycle cost theory to solve the economic thickness of the insulation layer.Through research,it is recommended to use external insulation system, intermittent operation(considering tolerance temperature)air conditioning mode conditions are more suitable for building energy saving design in hot summer and cold winter areas. After simulating and calculating the thickness of insulation layer 40 mm to achieve the best economic thickness, using the whole life cycle cost analysis theory,it is concluded that the payback period is about 4 years, and the payback period is short, which has good economic benefits. And the increase of the outer insulation of the enclosure structure is more conducive to improve the thermal comfort of the human body in the air conditioning room.
