Mass spectrometry is one of the most important material analysis instruments available today.The mass spectrometer can determine the exact mass of the measured material ions accurately,clarify the structure of the substance and identify its specific components.Mass spectrometry can analyze the composition of the material qualitatively and quantitatively.Mass spectrometry has high sensitivity and requires a little amount of sample.Mass spectrometry has accurate and reliable results,it plays a decisive role in the field of environmental protection,chemical industry and national defense.The instrument is widely used in many other important areas that need to ensure safe.Due to many applications need more accurate result,better sensitivity and less sample,the mass spectrometry need to be more accure.At the same time,ions from conventional ESI source need to pass through a vacuum chamber before reaching the high vacuum region of the mass analyzer.The efficiency of ion transport in these different vacuum chambers largely determines the total ion transport efficiency of the mass spectrometer.The ion funnel can greatly increase the ion transport efficiency in the vacuum chamber and reduce the loss of ions.Ion funnel can help to transfer high mass to charge ratio ions such as proteins.Thus,we studied the ion funnel in this paper.The simulation results show that the ion funnel has a significant improvement in the transmission efficiency of macromolecules.In this paper,the simulation and experiment are applied to simulate the correctness of the theory and verify the actual theory respectively.The layout of the article is summarized as follows:This paper will firstly show the development and principle of the ion funnel,and then focus on studying the electric field distribution and voltage characteristics in the ion funnel.Using the ion funnel principle to analyze the previous models and obtain their advantages and disadvantages.Then,using the electric field simulation software SIMION to simulate the ion funnel by setting different electrode parameters.Analyzing the ion transmission efficiency under different parameters and judge the influence of electrode parameters on ion transmission efficiency.The results showed that the square wave driven ion funnel has a significant improvement in the mass range compared to the traditional ion funnel.The mass range of ion funnel driven by square wave increased 35% compared to the sine wave at 100 V,and the ion passing rate of low mass to charge ratio is improved when square wave applied.On the basis of theoretical simulate we have processed various physical parts and finished the corresponding software.The construction of the whole experimental platform was completed.We built the ion funnel platform in the chapter four,it was used to explore whether the experimental results are consistent with the theory.The results showed that the ion funnel can effectively increase the ion transmission efficiency and the experimental results are consistent with the theory.
