| Laminated glass(LG)is widely used as the load bearing material in building industry because it is featured with both transparency and high strength.Specific crack pattern will be created when brittle glass is cracked by actions such as impact. These patterns may greatly influence the post-breakage strength of LG.Limited research concerning the post-breakage strength of SGP LG cracked by impact can be found so far. This paper first examines the mechanical properties of glass and interlayer based on material performance tests. The glass crack pattern and the properties of the interlayer are the key factors affecting the post-breakage behavior of laminated glass.15 laminated glass panels in 5 groups that were cracked by impact were statically tested in this work.Through analyzing the load-displacement relationship, the effects of the crack pattern and interlayer type on the post-breakage performance were examined.Based on the theoretical model of the failure load of laminated glass and the mechanics theory, the existing model is improved by introducing simple assumptions and the results from the improved model is compared with the experimental results to verify its accuracy.Based on the smeared model, the numerical simulation under different working scenarios is carried out to study the influencing factors of the post-breakage behavior of laminated glass, which can inform the engineering design of laminated glass. |
