In the current automotive industry, the competition is fierce, especially in the premium car segment where Volvo Cars is located. There is a MercedesBenz BMW Audi interception, followed by emerging forces such as Tesla. In addition to continuing to develop its own technology in autonomous driving, electrification and connected car,the company is also committed to transforming from a pure car manufacturer to a travel service provider. These have placed great challenges on the IT department's current slow delivery capabilities.Other business units complained, and more and more began to choose to purchase external SaaS services themselves, causing widespread shadow IT problems.Within IT,people also began to realize this crisis and proposed to build an agile organization to speed up system development and deployment.Considering the outdated organizational structure of Volvo Cars IT department,DevOps is the most worthwhile reference and is used to break the information island to achieve agile transformation.During this process,in addition to implementing organizational changes by building dedicated service line based DevOps teams,it is necessary to prepare for the resistance that may be encountered.Resistances have different essential characteristics or subjects. They may be employees' concerns about employment security and their lack of motivation, may also be caused by a specific IT technology platform.Management needs to act accordingly to build a sense of urgency for employees, ensure full participation, accumulate short-term victories and ultimately deepen the results of change into all aspects of organizational culture.
