In semi-arid areas,urban rivers are affected by seasonal "drought" and "waterlogging" as well as the construction of rigid embankments,resulting in the degradation of urban rivers' habitats and poor hydrophilicity of river landscape.At present,the vertical design of rivers mainly focuses on the ecological function restoration and water conservancy.However,there are few methods for river landscape design in semi-arid areas,so it is of great significance to explore the vertical design method of river landscape.This article takes "vertical" as the research object in river landscape design.In this paper,the problems of river courses in semi-arid areas are sorted out,and the methods of how to solve the problems of river courses in semi-arid cities through vertical design are put forward.In order to build a safe,stable and beautiful river landscape.This paper mainly studies the vertical landscape design of rivers from the following three aspects:1)Firstly,the spatial morphological characteristics of horizontal,vertical and transverse spatial sections of rivers under the influence of spatial succession characteristics of rivers in semi-arid areas are sorted out.Compared with the horizontal,vertical and transverse spatial sections of urban rivers in semi-arid areas,the advantages and disadvantages of natural rivers and urban rivers in semi-arid areas are summarized,and the main influencing factors of the formation of spatial morphology of natural rivers are analyzed,including water velocity and water volume.2)Summarize the problems existing in the river course in semi-arid area,and put forward the strategies of vertical landscape design of the river course in response to these problems.Furthermore,the strategy of how to realize the vertical landscape design of river courses in semi-arid areas is discussed from the vertical design of longitudinal space and the vertical design of transverse space.The vertical design method of semi-arid river landscape is proposed.3)Analyze the typical problems and special problems of the existing semi-arid urban rivers in Xinhe New River,and propose solutions.The new river park section of Fengxi New City is used as a practical application object,and the vertical landscape design method is applied to The landscape design of the Xinhe River Park section.Discuss its application value and provide ideas for the vertical design of urban rivers in semi-arid areas.Based on the above research,the river course in semi-arid areas can create safe,stable and spatially rich ecological river embankment space through vertical design,and increase the connection between river channel and city by increasing the space nodes.At the same time,habitat conditions can be created by changing the shape of the river to influence the flow rate and quantity of water in the river.The design method of vertical space and horizontal space in urban rivers in semi-arid areas is proposed.It is applied to the river channel landscape design of the Xinhe Park section of the New West,providing ideas for the vertical design of urban rivers in semi-arid areas.
