China is a frequent earthquake country suffered serious threat by earthquakes.According to statistics,China,taking up 7% of the world’s land,bears about 33% of the world’s continental earthquakes.It is the country with the most serious earthquake disasters in the world.However,in China rural areas,there are a large number of traditional masonry structure buildings.These masonry structure buildings are mostly built by local crews according to traditional experience,without formal design,whose seismic performance is poor.At the same time,due to the brittle nature of masonry material itself,its tensile,shear and flexural strength is low,its weight is large,its integrity is poor,so masonry structure buildings often damage or collapse and cause serious casualties when the earthquake attacks.Therefore,it is necessary to reinforce the masonry structures in rural areas.At present,the traditional reinforcement technology of masonry buildings is mainly aimed at strengthening the bearing capacity of a single member,such as the reinforcement of walls or beams and columns.The traditional reinforcement technology has many problems,such as many wet work in the field,high construction cost,long construction period,and the influence of the normal use of the building.At the same time,this kind of reinforcement method only aims at the single member reinforcement but does not focus on improving the overall seismic performance of the structure,the strengthening efficiency is low.In this paper,combined with the additional substructure strengthening technology of Japan,a new reinforcement technique for strengthening the village masonry building with additional anti lateral force cable structure is proposed.It mainly consists of two parts.One is a reinforcement system composed of horizontal cables,which tightly restrains the whole structure through the pulling of the external prestressed cables,strengthens the connection between the vertical and horizontal walls,prevents the wall from collapsing outside the plane,and improves the integrity of the structure.Another is the additional lateral resistance system composed of steel column and stay cable,which can provide new lateral resistance ability,improve the deformation and force mode of the original structure,and avoid the failure of the bottom layer of the original structure due to concentrated force.The masonry structure reinforcement method mainly aims at the overall seismic performance of the whole structure.It can improve the stress state of the structure and avoid the collapse of the structure.It has obvious advantages compared with the traditional method of strengthening the single masonry wall.In addition,the construction of the reinforcement method is mainly in the periphery of the house.It does not affect the interior items and decoration,thus greatly reducing the influence on the daily life of the residents during the construction period.This paper focuses on the research of the reinforcement of masonry buildings with additional anti lateral force cable structure.The main research works and achievements are as follows:(1)On the basis of consulting a large number of literatures,the seismic damage of masonry structures and the traditional reinforcement methods are summarized.In order to overcome the shortcomings of existing reinforcement methods,based on the principle of convenience and affordability,the whole strengthening technology of reinforcing the village masonry building with additional anti lateral force cable structure is put forward in this paper.(2)Put forward the corresponding design method and construction technology.The design method includes design process,layout,components and connection calculation,etc.The construction technology includes the installation of prefabricated construction,prestressed cable tensioning,connection of steel column with the original structure and protection measures etc.(3)Explicit dynamic analysis software ANSYS/LS-DYNA was selected to simulate and analyze the reinforcement method.Firstly material model and related parameters are determined,then before and after reinforced models of three typical masonry buildings,pure masonry buildings,with ring beam masonry buildings and the bottom frame supported masonry buildings are established.The seismic analysis proves that additional reinforcement can effectively deform the underlying structure and prevent overall collapse due to the underlying damage.
