With the increase in power demand and the impact of harsh environments, some main members of the existing transmission tower have insufficient bearing capacity. However, the existing reinforcement methods are mostly to connect reinforcement members after drilling holes in original members; Not only is it difficult to work at height,it may also cause damage to the original structure. In this paper,a new clamp-type reinforcement method is proposed, and its application to the web members and some tension members in the transmission tower is studied. The web members are eccentrically compressed angle steel members connected by single limbs at both ends, and the stress situation is complicated.First, the finite element software is used to study the mechanical properties of the eccentrically compressed angle steel members, obtaining the failure modes and ultimate bearing capacity, which provide a reference for the reinforcement effect.Furthermore, the friction coefficient between the contact surfaces of galvanized angle steel and the force transfer efficiency between the original angle steel and the reinforcement angle steel during the reinforcement of the tensile angle steel are tested, verifying the effectiveness of the reinforcement method. On the basis of the friction coefficient measurement test in this paper and the relavent experimental research of the axial compression angle steel reinforcement, the same finite element modeling method is used to analyze the stress situation of the eccentrically compressed angle steel after reinforcement; The influences of relavent parameters on the reinforcement effect are considered respectively, such as the cross-section specifications, the slenderness ratio,width-thickness ratio, yield strength of material, fixture spacing, bolt pretension force, limb thickness of reinforcement angle steel, vertical gap between reinforcement angle steel and end of connecting plate, providing relevant suggestions for practical engineering applications. Finally, based on the experimental research on force transfer efficiency of tension angle steel after reinforcement, the parametric analysis of tensile angle steel after reinforcement is conducted; The influences of parameters such as cross-section specifications, fixture spacing and bolt pretension force on the reinforcement effect of the tensile angle steel are considered respectively, obtaining the general law of the force transfer efficiency of each section in the reinforced specimen. The results of this paper show that this reinforcement method can achieve better reinforcement effect in eccentrically compressed angle steel members and tensile angle steel members.
