Waverider is a widely used hypersonic aerodynamic configuration.Generally,existing design methods start from the trailing edge.In engineering practice,there are usually direct constraints on its leading edge curve.Therefore,based on cone-derived theory and osculating cone theory,the waverider design method from leading edge curve is researched in this paper.Based on cone-derived theory,design methods from the planform leading edge curve and three-dimensional leading edge curve are studied.The corresponding configurations are obtained by programming to implement design methods.The two design methods are tested in the comparison of geometric shape and the “wave-riding” performance.The study shows that the corresponding waveriders can be obtained for given corresponding geometric profile curves by the two design method.For cone-derived waverider,threedimensional design method is essentially the same as two-dimensional method,but it broadens the way to capture the leading edge and opens the waverider design perspective.Based on osculating cone theory,first of all,design method from planform leading edge curve is researched,and the planform leading edge curve is parameterized by cubic spline curve.A series of configurations are produced by setting parameters.A few of configurations with typical characteristics have been researched and analyzed to validate this method.For the waveriders with wings,the effects of the shapes and the span of “wave-riding wings” on waveriders’ aerodynamic performances have been studied by the orthogonal experimental design method.At last,the osculating cone waverider design method based on three-dimensional leading edge curve is developed.The configuration is produced for given threedimensional leading edge curve.Its core is to calculate the corresponding shock wave profile curve according to the three-dimensional leading edge curve.The research proves that this method can control the three-dimensional leading edge curve directly to design waverider,and the method has important engineering value.
