In today's world,low-carbon economic thoughts and green development concepts have become two major characteristics of ecological civilization construction.In this context,China has raised the development of new energy automobile industry to the level of national key development strategy.According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics,the output of new energy vehicles increased rapidly in 2018,reaching 40.1%,and automobile manufacturing enterprises above designated size increased by 2.9% year-on-year,and their contribution to China's GDP has been increasing.However,compared with foreign automobile giants,China's new energy vehicle companies still have some restrictive factors in the areas of cost management,integrated innovation and safety performance,which restrict the development of the new energy vehicle industry.Therefore,under the circumstances that China's economy has entered a new normal,the downward pressure on the economy has continued to increase,and market competition has become increasingly fierce,the issue of "reducing costs" for new energy vehicles has drawn increasing attention from the theoretical and practical circles.The optimization of strategic cost management is particularly important for new energy vehicles to launch a new round of industry competition in the global field,which is directly related to the healthy and sustainable development of enterprises.Therefore,China's automotive industry urgently needs to introduce and optimize strategic cost management to reduce the cost of new energy vehicle manufacturing,improve the management efficiency of new energy vehicle enterprises,and continually enhance the cost competitive advantage.The article uses strategic positioning analysis,value chain analysis,and cost driver analysis as the three main lines to analyze the current status of BYD's strategic cost management of new energy vehicles and the diversified layout based on low-cost competition.It also considers the layout of the new energy vehicle supply chain and future development trends,found the following problems in BYD's strategic cost management of new energy vehicles:(1)The level of marketization of the supply chain needs to be improved urgently;(2)Cost optimization of the value chain link lacks systematicity;(3)Integrated innovation and the cost control of core components are weak.This article analyzes the existing problems and the current management situation,and puts forward some suggestions on how to optimize BYD's new energy vehicle strategic cost management: First,improve the marketization level of the supply chain of new energy vehicles;second,build a low-cost industrial alliance for new energy vehicles;and finally,accelerate the technological progress of core components.The end of the article summarizes BYD's implementation of strategic cost management and points out the shortcomings of the article's research.
