Harvesting energy from the ambient environments to power some small-scale and micro electronic devices has great significance for reducing the consumption of fossil fuels and maintaining the sustainable development of society.Dielectric elastomer generator(DEG),which is a new type of electrostatic generator structure, has widely concerned from researchers at board and home because of its high energy density, light weight, good mechanical and electrical coupling characteristics. In order to take fully advantage of DEG in energy harvesting, the energy harvesting mechanism and performance of vibro-impact DEG(VI DEG)and contact-type DEG(CT DEG)were studied in this paper.First,in order to study the energy conversion mechanism of the VI DEG,basic electric output parameters of dielectric elastomer membrane(DEM)and the material parameters under impact excitation,we proposed a single-side impact DEG model.Using this model, the mechanism of the VI DEG was fully revealed, and the electric output parameters were calculated. In addition, the coefficient of restitution of DEM and the largest deformation under different impact speeds,pre-stretch ratios and output voltages were obtained by experiment.Secondly,in order to utilize the VI DEG to harvest wind energy,we proposed a conventional two-blade turbine structure, and studied the structure basic energy harvesting performance.Furthermore,we further investigated the energy harvesting performance of the VI DEG subjected to rotational excitation. Finally,in order to harvest the energy from displacement excitations taking advantage of the DEG,we proposed and studied a novel CT DEG system, which can in turn output electric energy by two DEMs.This paper studied the energy conversion mechanism of the VI DEG and the CT DEG and energy harvesting performance, which extends application scopes of the DEG and lays theoretical foundation for the application of the DEG in wind energy, rotational energy and displacement energy.
