The wheel is one of the key components for heavy-duty train travel to achieve traction and braking.Wheel tread wear during operation will result in a decline in the performance of heavy-duty trains,so it is necessary to regularly modify and maintain the tread.Tread repair is mainly done by the repair process based on turning machining.The quality of repairing has an important influence on the later running performance of the train.Therefore,it is of certain engineering significance to study the cutting mechanism and characteristics of heavy-duty wheel steel.In this paper,the cutting mechanism and microstructure evolution of CL70 wheel steel used in heavy-duty trains are studied.The specific research contents are as follows:According to the principle of metal cutting,combined with the wheel repairing technology,the ANSYS/Ls-Dyna software is used to establish a three-dimensional orthogonal cutting finite element model.According to the variation of stress field,cutting temperature and cutting force during the cutting simulation process,the cutting mechanism of CL70 wheel steel is analyzed.The simulation scheme is designed based on the principle of single variable,and the effects of cutting depth,cutting speed and tool rake angle on cutting force and cutting temperature during cutting were analyzed.The orthogonal experiment and contrast experiment of CL70 steel turning machining are designed.According to the measured surface roughness,the range analysis method is used to compare the influence of cutting speed,backing knife amount and feed amount on surface roughness.Based on the principle of single variable,the influence of turning amount on surface roughness and the influence of cutting speed on chip shape are analyzed.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)is used to observe the evolution of the microstructure of the deformed layer on the surface of the machined surface.The influence of the amount of turning on the microstructure of the surface of the machined surface is analyzed by using the thickness of the deformed layer.The cutting mechanism of heavy-duty train wheel steel is studied from the microscopic point of view.The paper uses the combination of simulation and experiment to study the cutting mechanism of heavy-duty train wheel steel from macroscopic chip shape change to microstructure evolution.The research results provide certain conditions for the optimization of cutting process parameters of heavy-duty train wheel steel reference.
