Architectural relics are an important part of Chinese traditional culture. They represent the development level of social economy, politics and culture at that time and witness the development of Chinese history and culture. The research and protection of architectural relics is conducive to the inheritance and development of Chinese traditional culture. With the passage of time, architectural relics have experienced damage while witnessing the changes of social development. At present, the protection of architectural relics in China still faces many difficulties.Economic development and social progress bring great pressure on the protection of architectural relics. In addition, due to the limitation of national human, material and financial resources, some damaged architectural relics cannot be repaired in time,so the protection of architectural relics is very urgent.LiDAR remote sensing is a new surveying and mapping technology, which has incomparable advantages in data acquisition compared with traditional technology, and can meet the requirements of digital acquisition of architectural heritage information.Building a three-dimensional model of architectural relics by BIM Technology can not only realize the browsing and management of the senses of architectural relics, but also input the attribute information of the age, material and construction technology of architectural relics,so as to realize the unified and effective management of the visual and cultural value of architectural relics.LiDAR remote sensing combined with BIM Technology is a new and effective way to protect architectural relics..Taking Ji'nan governor Town God's Temple as an example, this paper introduces the method of using LiDAR remote sensing acquired point cloud data combined with BIM technology to protect and virtual restoration of architectural heritage, mainly exploring the acquisition and processing methods of point cloud data, establishing the process of building heritage model by using BIM technology, managing the attribute information of architectural heritage, and virtual restoration of damaged architectural relics. The main tasks are as follows:First of all, collect the literature related to the protection of architectural relics, through consulting the data, analyze the research background and significance of this paper, understand the latest research trends at home and abroad, and introduce the features and applications of LiDAR remote sensing and BIM Technology. Then,LiDAR remote sensing is used to obtain point cloud data, and based on BIM,3D Fine modeling and attribute information management of architectural relics are carried out.In view of the huge amount of point cloud data, the method of successive and grouping is adopted to reduce the amount of data and improve the processing efficiency. In terms of the acquisition of the size data of architectural relics, the method of direct measurement in BIM software is proposed based on the point cloud model;in terms of the establishment of the three-dimensional BIM model, not only the browsing and protection of the senses are realized, but also the management of architectural cultural value information such as the material and construction technology of architectural relics is realized. Finally,a virtual restoration method for damaged architectural relics is proposed.According to the "construction method" of ancient buildings in China, and with the help of the symmetry principle of architectural relics, geometric structure, reference to the same type of buildings in the same period and other ways, the building cultural relics component library is established in BIM to realize the virtual restoration of damaged architectural relics.
