Products are no longer serve as simply functional usage at a multiple demanding society where life quality is increasingly promoted by science and technology progress.As one of transportation means,cars stands for more than a tool but a individual private mobile space that reflects its owners' taste,personality,and spiritual sustenance.The appearance modeling of automobile,as the first image of intuitive expression,must entails both reasonable structure and smooth lines,while adding the spiritual pleasure part on the basis of satisfying users' practical functions are key factors in purchasing a automobile.When automobiles in the same price level,"appearance level" weights heavy in customers' decision.This paper takes SUV as the target vehicle type for analysis.The author identifies the commonness and market trend of different SUV through research and integration of different pictures of SUV appearances,and the summary and screening of corresponding shape perception semantics.User selection inertia is positioned by psychological analysis and user model is established;SUV perceptual information is classified by Kansei Engineering,and SUV perceptual information model is constructed.Basic anthropometric data in physiology are used as the benchmark depth of SUV modeling size.Market research results are compared with actual experimental results to obtain subjective and objective data of users as the evaluation basis.Then,the data contribution tables of the target semantics and the design elements of different SUV modeling features are obtained by comparing and calculating.Finally,six groups of data are applied to the actual design to verify the method.Conclusion are drawn after investigation,experiment,example,and evaluation that semantic perception can play a role in connecting users' perception to vehicle rational data in SUV appearance design.By comparison and evaluation,a large number of redundant data are easily to analyzed,then users' psychological expectations can be grasped more accurately which serves significant reference for the design and planning of automobile enterprises.28 Figures,19 tables and 53 references.
