Electric vehicles are expected to be the final solution for the development of automotive field due to the advantages of energy saving and environmental protection. As one of the key components of electric vehicle, drive motors are supposed to have the advantages of high efficiency, wide speed range and low torque ripple.Stator-permanent magnet(PM)motor inherits the merits of high power density and high efficiency of traditional PM motor, and has simple rotor structure, which is suitable for high speed and high robust operation of electric vehicles. However, the air-gap magnetic field is hard to be regulated and the flux regulation range is limited due to the constant excitation source of stator-PM motor.By introducing the concept of hybrid excitation and adding the field winding to the stator, the air-gap magnetic field can be effectively regulated by controlling the excited magnetic field.Nevertheless, all the magnetic sources are designed in only one stator, which increases the space competition among magnetic sources, thus, the motor torque output capability and the flux regulation capability will be limited. In this paper, two types of partitioned stator hybrid excitation doubly salient(PS-HEDS)motor are proposed, which are based on the hybrid excitation motor and partitioned stator structure, and the field windings and armature windings are separately placed in the inner stator and outer stator, respectively.Consequently, space contradiction of magnetic sources can be effectively relieved, and thus enhancing the torque density and widening the speed range. Moreover, the operation principle, parameter optimization, electromagnetic performance of these two motors are analyzed and calculated in detail. The main contents of this paper are as follows:1.Two types of PS-HEDS motors are proposed, and their topological structures and operation principles are discussed and the development ideas of the two structures are elaborated.Furthermore, the harmonic characteristic is analyzed and based on which the armature winding is configured.2.The power equation is derived, and the main parameters of the motor are analyzed and optimized, such as the ratio of inner and outer diameter, the size of permanent magnet, rotor arc, etc.,and the influences of each parameter on the electromagnetic performance are analyzed in detail. Finally, the manufacture parameters of PS-HEDS motor are determined.3.Electromagnetic performances of PS-HEDS motor are calculated and analyzed.Meanwhile, the magnetic density of is analyzed, and the theoretical analysis is verified based on the variation of the magnetic density of the hybrid magnetic pole, magnetic channel and electrical excitation pole under different excitation conditions.According to the calculation model, the iron loss is analyzed. And the armature winding loss and the excitation winding loss under different excitation currents are calculated. Then, efficiencies under different excitation conditions are calculated.4.The PS-HEDS motor is manufactured, and the challenges encountered during the process of manufacture are described.
