Research On Automated Generation Of Construction Drawings Based On IFC Standard

As a new concept and technology,BIM(Building Information Modeling)is gradually changing the work habits of construction industry and becomes an essential stage of information development of construction industry.However,a working pattern of ‘modeling after drafting',which means the modeling and BIM applying phase is separated from the drafting phase,is widely adopted in construction design companies for the time being,and it fails to maximize the value of BIM thoroughly.Along with the popularization of BIM technology applications,the future project delivery in construction design companies will gradually transit from 2D drawings to building information model and its associated drawings,or maybe 2D drawing will disappear completely in the future.Therefore,under the current background of BIM applications,we should look for an approach to change the working pattern characterized by 2D technology to 3D technology based on the mature CAD-based design method,so we can infiltrate BIM technology into construction design phase successfully.This paper summarizes the technical requirements of construction drawing in Chinese national standards,analyses the design method of construction drawings in AutoCAD,and summarizes the practical drafting method in Revit2015 and ArchiCAD19.And it also points out the present design method,which needs extra time to add 2D informations by designers,is not ‘automated drafting' said by the BIM software developers,and ‘*.dwg' document is still the exchange format of drawings.Therefore,this paper analyses the expression of construction drawing information in IFC standard,suggests an automated method to generate IFC-based construction drawings,and prove its feasibility using simple examples in NMBIM.
