In this paper,111 roads in wangcheng gaoxing district of Changsha city, were taken as the research object, the application of various tree species, the structure of main road tree species, the horizontal and vertical structure of plant community were investigated and analyzed, the problems existing in the current situation of road plant landscape were summarized, the optimization strategies were put forward, and the research theoretical results were applied to the case practice, provide reference for future road plant landscape optimization in wangcheng district, the main research results are as follows:There are 134 species of plants in the road green space, variety is abundant,of which 63 species belong to 53 genera and 31 families, accounting for 46.3% of the total road plant species.the ratio of evergreen trees to deciduous trees is 4: 1,and the seasonal change is not obvious.Cinnamomum camphora,Du Ying, osmanthus fragrans and photinia fraxini were the most frequently used plants, and Magnoliaceae,Taxodiaceae,Leguminosae and Pinaceae were the most frequently used plants. There are 22 species of small trees and large shrubs in 12 families,17 genera, accounting for 16.4 % of the total plant species in the road green space, and most of them are Rosaceae,Leguminosae and Aceraceae. There are 32 species belonging to 24 genera and 20 families of shrubs, accounting for 23.9 % of the total plant species in the road green space.the occurrence frequency of shrubs is higher than 50 % of the total plant species, including loropetalum chinense, rhododendron, camellia japonica and Ligustrum lucidum. There are 11 families,13 genera and 14 species of herbaceous plants,it accounts for 10.4% of the plant species of road greenbelt, mostly in compositae.Ophiopogon japonicus,Persian chrysanthemum and Coreopsis are relatively more frequent.Lianas the least, only 4 families,4 genera,4 species. It accounts for 2.9% of the plant species of road greenbelt.Wangcheng gaoxing district district several main road tree species structure is good in general, especially lei feng avenue, venus avenue and huangqiao avenue, ecological benefit is good, its characteristic is the road side with a large area of lawn, but due to the lack of middle shrub plants, the overall landscape is slightly empty. The horizontal structure of road plant community is now in the cross-sectional form of road green belt,a total of 87 strips in one board and two belts,6 strips in two boards and three belts,15 strips in three boards and four belts,3 strips in four boards and five belts, and up to 78 % in one board and two belts, the form is relatively single.Vertical structure of plant community: arbor + herb form was the most in sidewalk greenbelt, accounting for 61 %;Non-motor vehicle greenbelt trees + small trees + shrubs + herbs form the most, the frequency of application is 53 %;The tree + shrub + herb form was the highest in the central car zone(44 %).Roadside greenbelt medium and small trees + shrubs + herbs structure form the most, accounting for 32 %.At present, the problems in the road green space: the total plant varieties are rich, but the common plant varieties are single, lack of winter plant landscape, the unreasonable planting of some road plants, the simple structure of the road vegetation, the unscientific selection of some tree species, and the incomplete maintenance and management.Optimization Countermeasures: optimize the application of various plant tree species, mainly increase the species and dosage of shrubs, optimize the pattern of vegetation distribution in road green space, enrich the road plate type, increase the green amount, and strengthen the later maintenance work, such as pruning, removal of miscellaneous and replanting.
