The strategic importance of the purchasing function is seen as a response to various competitive pressures in the market.In recent years,purchasing is increasingly regarded as a strategic function within the organization,which not only has a positive impact on the performance of purchasing function,but also has a positive impact on enterprise performance.A.chieving these priorities depends largely on the role played by the supplier,enterprises tend to regard the partnership between buyers and suppliers as internal resources and try their best to obtain sustainable competitive advantages through purch.asing practices.Most of the existing studies on the role of purchasing strategy are carried out by purchasing personnel through the contribution of purchasing practice to purchasin g performance,ignoring th e role of strategic level of purchasing in promoting the implementation of purch asing practice.However,can the strategic level of purchasing bring about better purchasing performance and how to achieve the improvement of different types of purchasing performance?These questions need further study.On the basis of the existing literature,this paper analyzes the profound connotation of the strategic level of purchasing,and establishes the content structure of constructing the strategic level of purchasing,an d have a clear understanding of the characteristics of strategic level of purchasing in different development stages.Firstly,th e research takes X company as an example and focuses on analyzing the path for X company to improve its purchasing performance through semi-structured interview.Secondly,based on resource-based theory and transaction cost theory,the research explores the mechanism of the strategic level of purchasing on its purchasing performance.A nd then combin es the actual phenomena and problems of X company,so as to build a theoretical model of the relationship between strategic level of purchasing an d purchasing performance,and propose relevant research hypotheses.Research data were collected through a large sample questionnaire survey of typical manufacturing enterprises in China,and then through the hierarchical regression analysis and structural equation model test research hypothesis,Verifying the strategic level of purchasing has a positive impact on different types of purchasing performance by promoting the im plementation of specific control practices,participation practices and logistics practices.The conclusions and innovations of the study are as follows:(1)From the perspective of the strategic level of purch asing,this paper creatively clar ifies the nature of the strategic role of purch asing.Few literatures connect the strategic level of purchasing with pur-chasing practice and performance.Manufacturing en terprises are selected as research objects to establish a conceptual model of the influence of strategic level of purchasing on multi-dimensional purchasing performance,which creatively enriches existing researches.The study provides a better logical response to the current controversy about the role of purchasing strategy,which provides a new idea for how to effectively transform the strategic level of purchasing into the sustainable purchasing performance of enterprises,and further establishes the strategic importance of purchasing in enterprises.(2)it reveals the mediating effect of purchasing practice in the relationship between strategic level of purchasing and purchasing performance.The research on purchasing practice in the literature is largely scattered and has not formed a comprehensive classification.Based on a large number of literature analysis,this paper conducts a detailed study of purchasing practice,which is specifically divided into control practice,participation practice and logistics practice.The research results support purchasing professionals to allocate resources to specific practices,and different purchasing practices can produce different purchasing performance.Control practices help to ensure that quality standards are systematically implemented in the enterprise to improve overall product quality;More participatory practices involve suppliers in product design and production processes to improve innovation performance;Better logistics coordination and integration with suppliers is beneficial to cost reduction.The results of empirical verification show that purchasing practice plays a fully mediating role in the process of the influence of strategic level of purchasing on purchasing performance.
