About 300 million tyres pear year are produced in China.As one of the important parts,the quality of tyres will directly influence the security of vehicle.The quality of tyre surface is the most intuitionistic index,and its detection is one of the vital steps during the production process.At present,the detecting of surface defects of tyres in most manufactures at home and abroad mainly rely on the traditional manual methods.There are many shortcomings in manual detection,such as long detection time,easily affected by subjective factors,etc.,which seriously affect the production efficiency of products.In recent years,with the development of machine visual detective technology,the product quality detection based on the machine vision has been widely and widely applied to industrial Nondestructive Testing(NDT)because of its stability,efficiency and accuracy,etc.In this paper,we designed a tire surface defect detection system based on flexible vision,and realized non-destructive detection of tire surface defects.Initially,we summarized the defects of tire surface and analyzed the difficulties of tire surface detection.Secondly,according to the characteristics of the inner and outer surfaces of tires,the inner surface of tires was divided into eight parts,and the outer surface was divided into 12 parts.Four camera modules with 20 cameras were used to take pictures of each part of the inner and outer surfaces.According to the complex hook faces of tire surface,these cameras were connected to a steering engine based on the principle of the snake robot,which realized the "deformation" of the camera module and can image the tire surface well.Thirdly,we built up the detecting platform according to the tyre structure,mainly including the tyre fixing device,rotating device and the six-axis mechanical arm.The image of the whole tire's complete surface was obtained by the way that the mechanical arm drives the camera rotating half-circle,the tire rotates half-circle,and then drive the camera rotating another half-circle.The control system of the mechanical arm,variable direction camera model group and the tyre rotation have been developed and the automatic detecting has been realized.Finally,based on the collected tire surface images,after the tyre surface pictures were pre-processed and noise suppressed,etc.,pictures of a whole tyre internal and external surfaces were stitched together,and the tyre surface defects identification was initially achieved.In conclusion,the tyre surface defect detecting system designed in there has realized the all-round,efficient and stable detection to a tyre surface.Meanwhile,the system can detect the tyres with different sizes and types with possesses a good extensibility,which can meet the requirements of tyre manufacturing and reduce cost.Our job will fill the technical blank of tire surface quality inspection.
