| With the improvement of science,technology and productivity,shell structure has become very common in the field of industry and architecture.Different from the plane structure and solid structure which have established sound mechanical analysis and design theory,the analysis and design method of shell structure are both in the stage of rapid development at present.Applying the topology optimization method of continuum structure to the conceptual design of shell structure can provide reference for designers to some extent.The work of this paper is to extend the level set method,which is commonly used in the topology optimization method of continuum structure,to the optimization of shell structure for architectural form innovation design,and to give solutions to some problems that may be faced when it is applied in engineering practice.Firstly,in the framework of the level-set based topology optimization method,the radial basis function is used to parameterize the level set function field in the design domain of shell structure,and the level set evolution mode of this method is illustrated.In the part of finite element analysis,DKQ element and membrane element with rotational degrees of freedom are selected to assemble the flat shell element,and the stiffness matrix of the flat shell element is derived.Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the guidance of this method in the conceptual design process of shell structures.Secondly,considering the manufacturability and aesthetic requirements of the resulting topology of shell structures in architectural engineering,under the framework of the topology optimization of shell structure based on parameterized level set method,the manufacturing constraint of pattern repetition is introduced into the topology optimization model.By virtue of the independence of the position of radial basis function’s knot and finite element mesh in this method,the repetition topology among subregions with different shapes in shell structure can be realized.Finally,inspired by the early form-finding method based on physical experiment and considering the effect of the initial shape on the final topology’s mechanics and aesthetic,this paper proposes a simplified form-generating method by means of the finite elementcalculation,and thus the form of the shell structure can be diversified design,which can provide a reference for designers to a certain extent. |
