Due to the rapid increase of urban population in China and the increasing traffic congestion in cities,giving priority to the development of public transportation is an effective way to alleviate urban traffic congestion.However,with the development of public transportation,various problems in the urban public transportation system have begun to emerge in recent years.For exa mple,because of the big fluctuation of passenger demand,and the high frequency of bus departures,which causing several buses to enter the station at the same time,or the bus that departures earlier falls behind the bus that departures later,that is th e bus bunching.The other problem is the overlap of the operation intervals of different bus lines,and the passengers in the overlapping interval have multiple travel options,contributing the passenger demand fluctuations in th e overlapping interval increase.Some buses have more passengers getting on at the stations in the overlapping interval,while some buses have less passengers getting on,accelerating the occurrence of bus bunching.These problems in public transportation systems will not only make the crowding degree of bus compartments unevenly,the car is overcrowded or the vacancy rate is high.They also reduce the punctuality rate of the bus and the passenger service level increase the passenger travel time cost and the bus company operating costs,which have seriously damaged the common interests of passengers and bus companies.In order to alleviate the problems above in the public transportation system,this paper proposes a multiple bus size combination-scheduling model under the influence of overlapping operation intervals of different bus lines,that is,fully considering the overlapping characteristics of different bus lines in the model and its influence on the scheduling model for the bus line network.Both large and small buses are used for each bus trip.The optimization objective of scheduling model is the minmum sum of the total travel time cost of the passengers in the bus network and the operating cost of the bus company,and the departure interval and bus size are optimization variables.Meanwhile,the heuristic algorithm is designed to solve the model and an optimized uneven departure interval and bus size are obtained.Before modeling the multiple bus size scheduling model under the influence of interval overlap,this paper first introduces the influence factors of bus dispatching,and establishes a multi-vehicle,large-vehicle and small-vehicle scheduling model under a single bus line.By comparing and analyzing the large-vehicle,small-bus scheduling model and multi-vehicle scheduling model under a single line,the multi-vehicle scheduling model is proved to be superior to the other two models.At the same time,in order to verify the validity of the multi-vehicle scheduling model under the influence of interval overlap,its result is compared with the multi-vehicle scheduling model under a single line.Finally,taking the bus lines 63,10 and 11 in Harbin as an example,the multi-vehicle combination-scheduling model under the influence of the overlap of operation sections and the three scheduling models under a single line are established and solved.The optimized timetable and departure bus size are obtained.By solving the multi-vehicle,large-size car and small-car scheduling models of the 63,10 and 11 bus lines,the results show that the cumulative passenger travel time and the total cost of passenger travel time and the bus operations of the multi-vehicle schedule model are both lower than the large car and small car scheduling model.By comparing the results of the multi-vehicle scheduling model under the influence of the overlap of the three lines,and the results of multi-vehicle scheduling model of three single bus lines without considering the overlap.It can be seen that considering the influence of operation section overlap in the schedule model can save the total passenger travel time by 5.2%,and save the total cost by 8.8%.
