Resent years,because of the increasing awareness of environment protection and energy conservation,shipping industry is at an important turning point.Traditional ship industry is under the pressure of the three big mountains: the coming depletion of conventional resource,the growing domestic public pressure and the more and more rigorous international laws.ship industry is looking for a clean and renewable energy.As wind energy is abundant and geographically ubiquitous,the sail-assisted vessels come back.In this paper,current sails,sail-applicable ship form,airfoils and sail-arrangement were analyzed systematically.Base on the analysis,typical sail-assisted vessel schema design is conducted and then the sail system device is designed.At last,learning from the concept of the modular and serialization design,sail system device industrial serialization researches were carried out.In the first section,based on the comparison of the sails and there aerodynamic characteristic,industrial sail type and its parameters are choosing.Current ship forms are analyzed in order to find ship forms which are suitable for sail.Then typical sail-assisted vessel schema was designed.In the second section,according to the typical sail-assisted vessel schema,the paper designs the sail system of the sail-assisted vessel by consulting the design principle of the deck crane,excavator and so on.The sail system contains wing structure,slew driving devices,sail extending-retracting mechanism and sail control devices.In the third section,the paper researches the comprehensive performance of the sail-assisted vessel including the safety performance,the economics and the environmental benefits based on the aerodynamic data of the airfoil and the historical meteorological data.Conclusion shows that the sail was safe and can reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions significantly and it has a good prospect to be widely used.In the last section,learning from the concept of the modular and serialization design,the paper researches the industrial serialization development of the sail system and designs a series of stander sail systems.
