During the long-term operation of power lines,faults such as strand breakage,foreign matter adhesion,icing,galloping and the like often occur.If faults are not found in time and corresponding measures are taken to maintain the faults,serious accidents such as large-area power outages and forest fires may be caused.The traditional power line inspection method uses manual inspection,but manual inspection cannot find faults in time.For some relatively small faults,it may be careless.In some difficult-to-observe power lines,unmanned remote control aircraft is usually used to take pictures.This method is time-consuming and labor-consuming.Therefore,an online monitoring system is designed in this paper,which can monitor the operation of power lines in real time and diagnose the faults of power lines.The diagnosis results are transmitted to experts and staff of the monitoring center for them to take corresponding measures to deal with the faults.In this paper,an on-line monitoring system powered by solar energy and storage battery is used,and 4G mobile wireless network is used for data transmission.In this paper,Python language is used to write programs,which can diagnose four kinds of faults of power line,i.e.strand breakage,foreign matter adhesion,icing and galloping.Considering the influence of video background on power line detection,the program uses functions such as mean shift,dilation,color space conversion,contour extraction,background filling,etc.to detect power lines from the background for fault diagnosis.In the program,the analytic geometry method is adopted to detect whether the width of the power line is abrupt,if so,it is judged that the power line is broken.For foreign matter adhesion and icing faults,a detection method is adopted to calculate whether the ratio of the external contour and the actual contour of the power line exceeds a certain value.For galloping faults,a method of comparing the offset distance and the offset angle of the power line is adopted,and an alarm will be given when exceeding a certain threshold value.The on-line monitoring system uses a low power consumption CPU,which is installed in the protection box on the tower.It can withstand severe weather and has the characteristics of long service life,low power consumption,stable operation,etc.With the enhancement of the hardware of the online monitoring system in the future,the online monitoring system can set higher resolution to diagnose faults more accurately and handle more complicated programs.Compared with the traditional manual inspection,the online monitoring system can diagnose the faults of power lines more accurately,economically and quickly.
