Renaissance Planning Research On Coastal Towns Along Xianghe Section Of The Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal

Many towns along the north sections of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal are the typical linear urban communities in Chinese history,whose generation and development depend on the important national traffic lines.Presently,the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal has won the World Heritage and has great realistic and potential value in the engineering technology,ecological landscape,recreational resources,cultural relics and national image etc.Accompanied with them,significant changes will be made by the development of coastal towns.The coastal towns along Xianghe section of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal are selected in this paper as research sites,to explore the new historical mission and the renaissance and development strategies of the coastal towns in the context of regional cooperation and ecological sustainable.This will contribute to the study of the interactive relationship between the canal and its coastal towns,especially in the development of synergistic protection,the study will have significant meanings to the development of coastal towns of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.In the context of the revival of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the national strategic development,this paper proposes a research framework for the revitalization strategies of the coastal towns referring to the characteristics of them.In addition,the connotations of the coastal towns,the relationships between canal and towns,the correlation analysis of the factors affect the renaissance of the coastal towns are summarized in this study.Firstly,based on the theory of heritage corridor,the theory of urban renaissance and the theory of regional coordinated development,the study sums up the historical development conditions and modern development characteristics of coastal towns in China with reference to relevant researches and practices at home and abroad.Secondly,further investigations of research areas are conducted on the basis of characteristics of coastal towns along Xianghe section.According to the evolution of hydrological patterns and the characteristics of the coastal towns,the study objectively evaluates the influence of ecology,cultural relics,industry,status and regional cooperation etc.on the canal and coastal towns.Furthermore,in order to accurately guide the future development of coastal towns,correlation analysis is put forward throughout 5 aspects,ecological system,cultural heritage system,economic and industrial development system,town spatial development and regional cooperation synergy in the research areas.According to the analysis of the above factors,this study proposes the renaissance strategies of coastal towns along Xianghe section of Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal.The strategies are on the premise of the ecological system recovery and the view of historical and cultural heritage corridor.Moreover,the mutual promotion development strategies are put forward combining with the background of regional cooperation planning,to establish a coordinated development system of the canal basin.
