Ultrasonic Motor(USM)is a new-type miniaturized device which is completely different from the traditional electromagnetic motor.It mainly utilizes the inverse piezoelectric effect to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy excited by certain alternating electric field,and then continuously outputs mechanical energy source through friction coupling by the way of lineal or rotary motion.The development of USM has quickly demonstrated its vast market application prospects and unlimited application potential,despite that it has a very short history.It has many unique abilities that include self-locking,low speed and large torque,compactable,no electromagnetic interference,high resolution and precise positioning capability.It has the outstanding advantages especially used in aerospace,medical equipment,precision instruments,automatic control,weaponry and other high-precision fields.Many countries are competing fiercely in this research field.This paper mainly proposes a new structure of stator which is applied in traveling wave ultrasonic motor and the stator is manufactured by SMT.The stator is applied in the sandwich type ultrasonic motor,which is divided into two-phase driving stator and four-phase driving stator.The structure of the patch stator is described in details,the four-phase power supply was set up and the experimental researches were carried out by constructing the corresponding experimental equipment.The main contents are as follows:1.Advantages,applications the history and its classification of ultrasonic motor are introduced.The fundamental principle of USM operation is analyzed.The mechanism of traveling wave ultrasonic motor,the formation principle of elliptical motion trajectory of piezoelectric material,the conditions for synthesizing traveling wave from standing wave and the process of achieving motion output through friction coupling were introduced.Finally,compared with the stator of traditional ultrasonic motor,features,advantages,innovations and the mechanism of the stator of an ultrasonic motor manufactured by SMT are in detailed introduction.2.The overall scheme of the four-phase power supply has been designed by selecting the corresponding hardware,the PCB of amplifying module which belongs to the four-phase power supply were manufactured and the transformer of the amplifying module was fabricated and the four-phase power was set up.The friction test platform was accomplished,which provides experimental equipment for subsequent stator performance testing.3.Finally,the resonance frequency of the stator was measured by impedance analyzer.The surface roughness of the stator was measured by XRD laser microscope.The variation curves of stator positive pressure and friction with different parameters were obtained by the method of changing variables.The effects of voltage,frequency,preload and surface roughness on stator performance were analyzed.A general rule has emerged.The relationship between speed and torque and four-phase ultrasonic motor was analyzed by the speed-torque tester.The trules of voltage,frequency and surface roughness on the output performance of ultrasonic motor have emerged.
