In general, scour phenomenon is accelerating erosion around the structures in the water caused by the down flow created by the obstruction of the flow. It’s the downward flow on the upstream face of the bridge pier which,by touching the bottom of the bed, erodes and transports the solid particles around the piers exposing their foundations to the risk of collapse. In addition to economic losses from the collapse of a structure,it also creates some casualties. In the Republic of Congo, despite the absence of statistics and awareness of this danger, this, unfortunately, grows every year dozens of structures to ruin with negative economic and environmental impacts. The estimation of the maximum scour depth is necessary to secure the foundations of the structures and protect those existing through appropriate measures. In this sense, the objective of this thesis is the understanding of a complex phenomenon that have been discussed in the literature then we have interested in this work in a parametric study(pier shape, flow field velocity, dynamic pressure, shear stress, etc)through numerical simulations under the Fluent CFD code with the turbulence model k-?.And for results and discussions CFD-Post was used.Numerical simulation shows that, when the flow velocity or dynamic the pressure increases, the riverbed shear stress also increases.Hence proposing the scour influence zone protection measures. |
