With the acceleration of metro construction and the increase of passenger flow,it is very important to study and test the evacuation behavior pattern of people in metro stations and improve the evacuation effect of metro stations accordingly. Most metro stations only test evacuation exercises in the early stages of construction. After putting into operation, there are some problems in re-evaluation and optimization design, such as high cost, difficult organization and difficult time adaptation. In view of this, major universities and scientific research institutions have made use of computers to simulate the evacuation of subway stations, and have done a lot of research and practical case evaluation, and achieved some results. However, the computer simulation method can only simulate the ideal situation simply, ignoring or rarely considering the factors such as the building space on the spot, guiding signs, goods placement, human psychological and physical conditions, etc. In view of this situation, this paper attempts to use virtual reality(VR)technology to test and study the evacuation behavior and evacuation effect of subway station, and puts forward corresponding optimization design suggestions.Using VR technology to test and evaluate evacuation simulation can overcome the problems of high cost and difficult organization of field evaluation and optimization,on the other hand, because of the high simulation of real environment and the introduction of human subjective factors,it can make up for the shortcomings of the current method of using computer programs to simulate the evacuation of subway stations.Yantang Station(Line 3 and Line 6),a representative transfer subway station in Guangzhou, was selected to study the evacuation problem in the station. The existing VR models and scenarios were used to carry out the test of human evacuation. After collecting and analyzing data and drawings and conducting field research, the scientific and reasonable evacuation assessment experiment was designed by using observation method, image recording, behavior map, data recording analysis, questionnaire survey and other research methods in the post-evaluation theory system, and the volunteers were sought for the experiment.Based on the analysis of experimental data, the bottlenecks and hidden dangers of evacuation in Yantang Station and the main factors affecting the evacuation effect are found out.According to the knowledge of architecture and environmental psychology, some suggestions for optimum design of Yantang Station are put forward in order to obtain better evacuation effect. In this way,we supplement and enrich the existing research methods of subway station evacuation behavior, and put forward optimization suggestions for the evacuation design of the subway station studied.
