The necessity and importance of a high heat removal potential in various areas particularly in nuclear applications are in a direct relationship with the excessively applied heat flux level.Enhancement of heat transfer in sub-channels is one of most important subjects in thermal hydraulics of nuclear reactor One of ways to increase the heat transfer performance and subsequently enhance the threshold of the critical heat flux is to employ spacer grids accompanied by mixing vanes. The flow mixing devices on a grid spacer are designed to enhance the turbulence and heat transfer in sub-channels.The present study to evaluate the effects of different mixing vane angles configurations on flow pattern and heat transfer in the downstream of the mixing vanes in the sub-channels of fuel assembly single-phase and steady-state in a single sub-channel of AP1000 nuclear reactor core as computational domain by using general computational fluid dynamics(CFD)code,Ansys CFX release 16.standard k-s model are used as a turbulence closure model. This is done by obtaining velocity and pressure fields, turbulent intensity and the heat transfer the sub-channel is analyzed by numerical simulation, the CFD results show that the turbulence in the sub-channel was significantly promoted by spacer and mixing vanes devices and affect on the heat transfer in the sub-channel.
