Research And Application On Sustainable Design Of Post-industrial Landscape In Award Production Of ASLA

With the advent of the post-industrial era,great changes have taken place in the economic structure and industrial structure of all countries in the world.Traditional industries no longer occupy the dominant position in the economy.The relocation or closure of factories has brought about a large number of industrial wastelands in urban centers,and consequently environmental and social problems.Factories that once brought huge profits are now the victims of cities.In order to solve this problem,some regions have embarked on rehabilitation plans,which will turn the over-used and heavily polluted industrial wasteland into a new place that can promote a virtuous circle of society.China is in a period of accelerated development of new industrialization and urbanization.With the adjustment of industrial structure and the gradual exhaustion of resources,industrial wasteland and declining industrial zones are increasing rapidly.Under the background of the policy of revitalizing old industrial bases such as Northeast China and the scientific concept of development put forward by the government,the comprehensive sustainable design and restoration method promotes the landscape renewal of industrial wasteland and the protection and re-establishment of industrial heritage.Utilization has become a realistic issue to be solved urgently in our country.The American Association of Landscape Designers(ASLA),a world-wide professional association,has paid enough attention to the restoration of such post-industrial landscape.Twenty of the award-winning works selected in the past decade have involved the sustainable design of industrial wasteland landscape.After the basic introduction,the paper summarizes the landscape sustainable design methods applied in the design cases,and summarizes them systematically.Then,the restoration techniques used in the representative sustainable design of vegetation,water and soil are introduced in detail,so that we can have a clearer understanding of the international frontier landscape sustainable design.At the same time,referring to the development of industrial landscape in our country,the author applies the methods summarized and the restoration technology to the project design of No.1 Iron Works of Benxi Iron and Steel Company,Liaoning Province,and applies reasonable methods to solve the problems of bad landscape,serious pollution and damaged buildings of the abandoned one-hundred-year iron works.
