With the rapid development of the automotive industry,driverless smart cars have gradually entered people’s lives.Within the technological field of driverless car environment perception,the research on the detection of traffic signal lights has always been the emphasis and difficulty.Traditionally,video cameras are employed to collect and identify intersection images.However,the method is likely to be influenced by external environments and produces poor recognition rate.Therefore,this thesis,in order to improve the signal recognition rate,proposes a new detection method,and accordingly designs a system for signal detection based on V2 X wireless communication.The specific research sections are as the follows:(1)Firstly,the thesis analyses the previous researches on the technology of environment perception,automatic control and their current development situation,as well as the influence of the external environments on signal detection and the feasibility of V2 X technology applied to signal detection.(2)As to driving tests,the testing terminal gathers information of the signal light control machines and makes an analysis of the signals.After analytical processing,it delivers the information to the vehicle-mounted terminal via V2 X wireless communication.(3)In terms of the vehicle terminal,this vehicle terminal processes signals that are received.With the help of GPS,CAN and other modules,it analyses and integrates the information.Afterwards,the system delivers the condition of the signal lights to driverless smart cars or the human-machine interface.(4)The system we designed displays the human-machine interface through an Android tablet,which is connected to and communicates with the vehicle terminal through WIFI signals.It enables a timely display of signal lights information and provides real-time vehicle map and other extended services.Therefore,our research is not only applicable to driverless smart cars but also to ordinary ones.On the experimental platform of the driverless car,we investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of our design scheme on real roads.A summary of the advantages and disadvantages of the system has been finally made based on the results,along with some suggestions on the future improvements.
