During the normal use of the civil infrastructure, along with the corrosion degrading material of the structure, and the earthquake, the structure presents a safety hazard. Many structure are restricted by economic and cultural factors, and they cannot be dismantled.Research on structural strengthening of buildings has received increasing attention.“Near surface mounted” is a new and promising strengthening technology in recent years.Fiber Reinforced Plastic(FRP)has many advantages such as light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance, the concrete cover is grooved on the surface of the member to be strengthened. The FRP material is embedded, and the epoxy resin is put into the groove, and the component tightly combined to achieve the purpose of improving the bending and shear bearing capacity of the building structure. In this paper, the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams embedded with FRP plates is tested by six test beams(two of which are comparative beams and four strengthened beams).Three effect factors of FRP plate spacing,FRP bonding area and stirrup spacing are considered. The failure mechanism of the FRP strengthened beams is discussed. The load-deflection curves,load-strain curves and cracks of the strengthened beams are summarized. The influence of shear capacity is summarized. The failure mechanism of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with FRP plate is summarized. The ultimate-shear wad carry capacity is derived. The theoretical calculation value and experimental value are compared to determine the rationality of the formula.
