The city freeway is the main artery of transportations of a city, which has the characteristics including fast transportation speed and large freight volume, etc.Over half of the traffic tasks of most cities are finished by city freeways,so it is crucial to well control the city freeways. The balance control of main and side roads of city freeways is a new research direction of traffic control field.Up to now, there have been few researches in this field, and also some problems exist, which are mainly focused on 2 aspects:one is that there are characteristics like multiple interference factors in city freeway systems and complex traffic conditions, which make it difficult to establish an accurate mathematical model and lead to difficulties in further optimizations and controls to the traffic system. The other is that most existing control methods for main and side road systems are separately researched aimed at main or side roads, few of them considered the problems from the entire and global angle.Aimed at the above problems, the following solutions were put forward in this thesis:Aimed at Problem(1),the advantages of MFAC(Model Free Adaptive Control)and MPC(Model Predictive Control)were combined to put forward an MFAPBC(Model Free Adaptive Predictive Balance Control)algorithm based on Model Free Adaptive Predictive Control, and in this scheme, there was no need to be aware of the accurate mathematical model of the main and side road system, besides,it only needed the I/O(Input/Output)data(vehicle information)of the system to realize the control on main and side road system, and there were also advantages like a good control effect,a strong robustness and a broad application scenario.Aimed at Problem(2):the main roads and side roads of freeway were seen as an integrated system and the road segments are divided in this thesis, the minimum unit model of main and side road system was given, and 2 kinds of balance control schemes were put forward.Scheme ? was the Model Free Adaptive Predictive Balance Control Scheme for main and side road system:to make the vehicle distribution of main and side road system partially balanced through adjusting the number of vehicles that enter the entrance ramp, meanwhile it would also have an acceleration effect on the balanced distribution of vehicles on main roads.Scheme ? was the Model Free Adaptive Predictive Balance Control Scheme for main and side roads of city freeways and intersections of side roads:it further considered the influence of signal timing dial at side road intersections on the global control, through simultaneous dynamic regulations on the traffic flows at side road intersections and entrance ramps, the model would make the main and side roads and side road intersections balanced, which would increase the use ratio of vehicles on city freeways networks.Software including MATLAB and VISSIM were used to conduct simulated analysis for the schemes, which verified the effectiveness of them.
