Along with the rapid development of china's economy,the demand for tap water for urban residents is increasing year by year,the contradiction between supply and demand of tap water is particularly prominent during the water supply peak period in summer.In order to solve this problem in general,there are three ways to ensure that the water demand of the residents is met:expanding the water plant,building new one,or remodeling the old water plant.However,the peak period of water supply is usually shorter in duration.Therefore,it is uneconomical to build a new water plant.Some water plants have not made a good long-term planning,and have not reserved the expansion land.The surrounding land is currently fully exploited,it's impossible to expand the old water plant.The best way to solve problem is to remodel the old water plant.During the transformation,we need to raise the utilization rate of resources and reduce the expenditure,therefore,it is necessary to conduct an accurate and complete assessment of the upper limit of the water production capacity of the existing waterworks,then take economical and effective measures to improve the water production capacity.The assessment of the upper limit of the capacity of the established waterworks is not only based on the design parameters of the waterworks to make data accounting repeatedly?according to the relevant provisions of the design specifications,but also conducts a comprehensive analysis of the water quality data,operating parameters and existing problems that have been in operation for many years on the basis of the premise of ensuring the safety of water quality.The comprehensive evaluation of the actual production capacity of the water plant is an important preparatory work for the expansion and transformation.This project explores a set of scientific and reliable systematic methods for the assessment of the upper limit of water production capacity of a water plant of high-tech zone in Suzhou,which uses the traditional ground water purification process,for reference to water purification plants use similar water treatment process.This is a way which has higher practical value.The processing flow of water treatment of the water plant in Suzhou are coagulation?sedimentation?filtration and disinfection,it also use the ozone-activated carbon advanced treatment process,which be commonly used in water plants in East China,and the whole process is representative.It's design scale of productivity is15×10~4m3/d.In recent years,the peak water supply has approached saturation.With the rapid development of social economy,the contradiction between supply and demand of tap water has become increasingly prominent,and the surrounding plots have been fully developed along with the urbanization process.It's imminent to enlarge and reconstruct the water plant.After investigate the design drawings,analysis of raw water data over the years,combined with field visits and examinations,it is found that the design parameters of the water plant structure are large,the redundancy of production capacity can be used.Through the evaluation and review of the main body of the water supply system,the flow velocity,the elevation of the connecting pipe,and the auxiliary equipment,the feasibility of the expansion target was confirmed,and the problems found in the assessment process were adjusted to ensure the safety of the water supply,confirmed the feasibility of transformation.In July 2018,after a series of transformations and commissioning,it achieved the expansion target of 18×10~4 m~3/d,smoothly passed the summer water supply peak,and all the indicators of the water output were up to the standards.The research and practice of the water production capacity assessment and transformation of the water plant show that the scientific evaluation process and method can be used to determine the upper limit of the water production capacity of the established water plant,provide effective guidance for formulating the expansion and transformation plan,and make rational use of redundancy.And by supplementing emergency measures to ensure the safety of water supply,achieved the goal of water quality and flow of water,and explore a set of methods for the upper limit of production capacity of waterworks using conventional ground water treatment processes.It has exhibited good representatives of the water production capacity assessment,also give full play to the water production capacity of existing waterworks,with significant economic and social benefits,and provided new methods and tools to alleviate the contradiction about water supply and demand.
