Textual Research On Wood Carving Patterns Of Ming And Qing Dynasties In Northeast China

Northeast China region refers to the geographical and cultural area and economic region in the northeast of China,among which the regions dominated by Liaoning province,Jilin province and Heilongjiang province are known as the "Three Northeast Provinces of China".Northeast China region is one of the cradles of Chinese culture with a long history,of which culture could go back to ancient times.As early as 6000 years ago,during the period of agricultural civilization,the "Hongshan culture" emerged in this region.In the meantime,a large number of utensils including coloured potteries,pottery pots and pottery cups with various patterns were unearthed,as well as "Jade Pig Dragon",the earliest prototype of the dragon.In addition,due to the multiple influence posed by the Qidan nationality in Wei Jin southern and northern dynasties,the Jurchen in the Liao dynasty,and the central plain culture during the period of Ming and Qing dynasty,resulting in the phenomenon of great cultural integration on such vast land,it also shaped the characteristic culture of northeast China diversified,inclusive and open.The excellent and unique historical culture in northeast China needs to be constantly inherited and developed.Ancient architecture of northeast China,as the carrier of cultural inheritance,we can also pry into the cultural essence and connotation of different nationalities and regions from its form and decoration even over a thousand of years.At present,the architectural decoration,which is available for textual research in northeast China,is mostly the architectural form in Ming and Qing dynasties or restored through Ming and Qing dynasties both.After several months of field research,architecture of Ming and Qing dynasties,which are well preserved and hold research value within the three provinces of northeast China,have been visited and recorded,besides,a large amount of practical material have been acquired through the photographing,and architecture overview and significance of architecture wooden decoration are analyzed with the combination of documents.The discussion and research,made by the paper,mainly taking the Ming and Qing architectural decoration connotation of three provinces in northeast China as the starting point and setting the carving content of architectural woodwork as the carrier,expounded the forms and techniques of woodwork carving technology from the Ming and Qing dynasties with the combination of graphics and texts.And then classified the humanistic and historical environment,architectural characteristics of the Ming and Qing dynasty and architectural wooden components of northeast China region respectively.The paper discussed the metaphorical connotation of woodcarving patterns,and carried out thorough analysis combined with examples,so as to put forward the design principles of modern decorative patterns and the inheritance and application of traditional culture further.
