Pumped-storage power station is a special hydropower station with functions of peak load regulation,valley filling,frequency regulation,phase regulation and emergency standby,which plays an important role in ensuring the safety,stability and economic efficient operation of the power grid.Pumped-storage power stations realize large-capacity power storage,which can improve the safety and stability performance,power supply reliability and power quality of the power grid,and have the characteristics of green environmental protection,energy saving and consumption reduction.They can optimize the energy structure and realize the economic,energy-saving and efficient operation of the power system.With the rapid development of China's trans-regional power grid and ultra-high-voltage,occasional faults of high-capacity uhv transmission lines,the volatility of wind power,photovoltaic power and other new energy sources and other increasingly prominent problems,the power grid regulation means are facing new challenges.As one of the important regulation means of power grid,pumped-storage power station has become an important subject at present,which is how to make it in the optimal control strategy and give full play to its role in power grid.By studying the characteristics of pumped-storage units and considering internal and external factors,this paper established the optimal model of minimum start-up,downtime constraint and avoiding frequent start-up and shutdown of pumped-storage units,which can effectively reduce the start-up and shutdown times of pumped-storage units and improve the stability of power station operation process.At the same time,the optimal load distribution model of the load transfer between the units of the pumped storage power station is proposed to guarantee the real-time load distribution of the pumped storage power station.Based on the technical and economic characteristics of pumped-storage power stations in the process of active power regulation,a framework model for the operation analysis of power system regulation of pumped-storage power stations is proposed,with the focus on solving the problem of active power regulation.The performance evaluation of pumped storage power station is made from static benefit,dynamic benefit and environmental benefit.Among them,static benefit mainly includes capacity benefit and electricity benefit.Dynamic benefit mainly includes frequency modulation benefit,phase modulation benefit,accident reserve benefit and black start benefit.Environmental benefits mainly include those related to the reduction of harmful gas emissions.Based on the analysis of the different functions of pumped storage power stations in different power grids,the benefits of pumped storage power stations are studied and analyzed from multiple perspectives according to the characteristics of pumped storage power stations,so as to guide pumped storage power stations to give better play to their comprehensive benefits.Related to Taishan phase ii project,the paper analyzed and researched pumped storage transmission unit technology advantages and application prospect,such as the instantaneous active and reactive power of the high speed regulating,automatic frequency controlling of pump working condition,higher generation effeciency,and ac excitation system replacing the SFC system to realize the launch of the turbine and wider operating range,etc.Transmission unit has more obvious promotion effect on the stability of power system and a broad application prospect in the power system.
