Selection And Application Study Of Vertical Plants In Guangzhou

Long with the developing of urbanization process in China,urban green area was becoming increasingly tense.Original greenbelt had been eroded.In this context,vertical greening was cherished.However,at present,there were a series of problems about vertical greening,include faultiness of policy guidance and laws and regulations,lack of funds and knowledge.Through literature review and field investigation,we focused on visiting the representative parks,residential quarters,commercial districts and roads,to comprehensively understand the application status of vertical plants in Guangzhou.The results showed that there were 179 species vertical plants in Guangzhou city,including 22 varieties,belonging to 70 family and 146 genera.Based on vertical plants investigatio n,referring to wild plant resources,we sifted 150 kinds of vertical plants in Guangzhou.We builded AHP comprehensive evaluation system,to evaluate these 150 kinds of plants in ecological habits,ornamental characteristics,maintenance cost and resources status.Plants were divided into five grades,among them,30 species plants of level ? were emphatically recommended,include Sedum lineare?Hoya carnosa?Mucuna birdwoodiana?Ixora chinensis?Sedum sarmentosum?Loropetalum chinense var.rubrum?Euonymus fortunei?Quisqualis indica?Pyrostegia venusta etc.30 species plants of level ? were second only to level ?,which could also be moderately applicated.Level ? could be taken as material to match vertical plants.Level ? and ? could be used as a substitute material,but it?s not recommended to slather.In view of the current situation and the comprehensive evaluation results of Guangzhou C ity,according to different application,we explored the cultivation management of vertical plants,combined with biological and ornamental characteristics.We summarized three kinds of cultivation techniques,include planting groove(pot)cultivation,framework supporting cultivation and climbing plants field cultivation for reference.Based on the survey of application status of vertical greening in Guangzhou,the results indicated that species and colors of vertical plants were unitary in parts of Guangzhou C ity,revealing low ornamental value;Vertical greening coverage rate was low,even many shopping malls,bridges and reside ntial quarters were not yet greened;Alien species occupied a certain proportion,but native plant utilization rate was not enough;Management was not standard,resulting in high mortality rate.Some solutions or advice were proposed to solve these problems.
