Study Of Demand And Prospect Of Urban Underground Space Development

Developing and utilizing urban underground space resources with high quality is essential to the sustainable urban development of our country.This is an inevitable choice for China’s urbanization process toward a green development model and for building a green lifestyle.In this paper,we studied the progress,current situation,development need and prospects of China’s urban underground space development,summarized the features and prospects of the development of underground space with various functions in different cities in China,and made concrete analysis for Nanjing.Firstly,by investigating history and status of exploring underground space both at home and abroad,we summarized the status and characteristics of urban underground space development of different countries based on demand-oriented development,and several stages in developing and utilizing domestic underground space since the founding of China.After comparison and induction,we divided the status quo of underground urban space development in domestic cities into four kinds:initialization,scale,initial network,and scale network,then introduced the different functions and characteristics of each kinds.Moreover,we statistically sorted out the status quo of the development of municipal,transportation,civil air defense,public services and underground storage facilities.Secondly,from the driving factors of underground space development,we analyzed various internal factors,external factors and impacts that drive the development of underground space.Then,we discussed driving factors of the current domestic underground space development and the corresponding underground space development trend with China’s actual situation.Thirdly,we classify the cities by the demands for underground space.According to their population capacity,we estimate the total population and per capita demand of different levels of cities.We estimate the scale of domestic underground space in 2030 and 2050,and predict the development needs and prospects of different functional underground spaces.Finally,we took Nanjing as an example.By considering the specific development needs and geological characteristics of Nanjing city,we use the methods of per capita spatial index and classification forecasting to predict the underground space development demand of Nanjing in 2030.In addition,we analyze the perspective of the collaborative development of underground space in several districts like Xinjiekou,Jiangbei New District etc.
