Driving is a process that requires drivers to be alert at all times, the purpose of this study was to explore the effects of driving fatigue on vigilance.Vigilance is a special form of attention,it's the individual's attention to the stimulus to remain aware and awake, and these stimuli that has not yet appeared but is likely to occur and is of great importance to the individual. In order to measure individual vigilance, this study uses the experimental paradigm of “Preparation-Warning tips-Target stimuli”.The first study investigates the effects of driving fatigue on the various characteristics of alertness, and these features include stability, selectivity and concentration. The results showed that:(1)after driving fatigue, the alertness of the individual was significantly decreased in stability, selectivity and concentration;(2)No matter whether the individual is fatigued or not,the time interval(ISI)plays an important role in the regulation of individual vigilance, with the increase of ISI from 500 ms to 3000 ms,the vigilance performance of individuals was significantly increased.(3)No matter whether fatigue or not,the individual vigilance of high frequency stimulation was significantly higher than that of low frequency stimulation;(4)After fatigue,ISI interacts with the frequency of stimulation;(5)There was interaction between fatigue and time interval ISI and stimulus probability three;(6)After fatigue, the concentration of individual vigilance appears in the spatial distribution, the reaction time in the large viewing angle was significantly longer than that under the small visual angle. The second study is to investigate the effects of driving fatigue on vigilance when individuals monitor different stimuli(static and dynamic).Color and shape are static features of picture, dynamic features are achieved by sudden changes in the picture. The results show that:(1)fatigue has little effect on static features;(2)Regardless of fatigue, the individual's vigilance to color was significantly higher than that of the shape;(3)After fatigue, the individual's vigilance to the dynamic features decreased significantly;(4)Whether or not fatigue, the individual's vigilance to dynamic features is significantly higher than static features. The third study investigates the effects of driving fatigue on alertness when individuals capture emotional information.Emotional materials include emotional words and emotional faces, and types of emotions include positive, negative and neutral. The results show that:(1)After fatigue, the individual's vigilance to different types of emotional words and emotional faces decreased significantly;(2)There is no significant difference between the positive and negative types of emotion, regardless of whether they are tired or not;(3)Whether or not fatigue, the individual's vigilance to emotional information is significantly higher than that of non emotional information. In conclusion, driving fatigue can reduce the vigilance of the individual, but in different aspects, the degree of decline is different.
