Two-Dimensional Mechanically Scanned Sonar(2D MSS)is widely used,because of its low cost,easy to install,high resolution,in waterway channel improvement project,underwater-building deformation monitoring,shipwreck exploration,submarine pipeline inspection and shore protection engineering.However,there is relatively few domestic research on 2D MSS.Therefore,by studying the working principle of 2D MSS,the paper analyzed the influence of measurement conditions and environmental conditions on its imaging,utilized the image processing method by combining its working principle,to improve the image quality of 2D MSS.This paper carried out the following:(a)Analyzed the working principle,imaging principle and theoretical resolution of 2D MSS,and summarized the main installation mode,briefly introduced the principle of its position calculation.(b)The influence of the measurement parameters on the imaging is analyzed,which mainly includes the influence of the operation parameters of the sonar(the pulse length of the sonar and the scanning speed,etc.)and the control parameters(distance from the bottom and the scan distance)on the imaging,and determined the threshold of parameters.In the specific construction environment,the influence of each measurement parameter made on its theoretical imaging resolution.(c)Analyzed the influence of the surface velocity on the imaging resolution by means of numerical simulation.The control range of the surface acoustic velocity error in the construction work is given.The influence of the initial coordinates and the threshold of the influence of the attitude change on the imaging under the engineering requirements are determined.(d)The image processing of 2D MSS,including image padding,image gray scale equalization and slope correction,are provided to improve the quality of the image and the high quality images improve the recognition of the target.And the algorithm flow is proposed that detection the overlapping width of geotextile mattress-laying.
