Developing public transport is an important strategy to relieve traffic congestion and reduce traffic pollution in large cities.Modern streetcars are favored by more and more cities because of their many advantages,such as high speed,large capacity and less investment cost.How to improve the traffic efficiency of modern streetcars while ensuring the overall benefit of intersections is one of the important problems in the development of modern streetcars.The purpose of this paper is to study the coordinated control scheme of signal intersections under the condition of modern streetcars to reduce the average delay of intersections and to balance the rights and interests of modern streetcars and conventional buses.Firstly,by analyzing the characteristics of modern streetcar,the calculation method of the signal parameters which related to modern streetcars are put forward.Secondly,the modern streetcar GPS data are processed,with which the operating characteristics of modern streetcars such as the travel time and the stopping time at streetcar stations are analyzed.Thirdly,the arrival time prediction method of modern streetcars based on the support vector machine regression model is constructed.Finally,a real-time signal coordination control method is realized by the measure of the decision tree analysis,considering the priority rights and interests of modern streetcar and conventional buses.In this paper,the GPS data of Nanjing Tram Line 1 is used to test the validity of the arrival time prediction method of modern streetcars.The real time signal coordination method between modern streetcar and conventional buses is verified by the example.The results show that this method can effectively reduce the average delay of the modern streetcar and conventional buses at the intersection,and improve the overall operation efficiency of the public transport system.
