The travel performance of off-road tire driving on sand is of great significance to the rapid development of military and industry as well as implementation of the western development strategy.The most effective way to study the travel performance of off-road tire driving on sand is to conduct the soil-bin experiment.Considering the engineering requirement of the cooperative enterprise and evaluation of simulation analysis method for studying the travel performance of off-road tire driving on sand,we finished the designing of development and prototype performance test of an indoor soil-bin experimental device with a soil bin whose dimension is 4m length,0.65 m width and 0.45 m depth.The experimental device is composed of a soil bin,a trolley,a soil loosing and compaction device and a control system.The trolley is the main mechanism of the soil-bin experimental device,which is composed of a wheel assembly,a vertical loading device,a wheel driving device and a trolley traction device.The travel performance tests of off-road tire driving on sand with different slip rates(the maximum slip rate is 30%)under a certain horizontal speed(the maximum speed is 0.2m/s)can be carried out through speed difference between a wheel driving device and a trolley traction device.The vertical loading device whose maximum working load is 1000 kgf is composed of an air compressor and a pneumatic cylinder.The plough-leveling device includes ploughs and compaction plate.The main function is to flatten and press the sand,so that the experiment can be carried out in the same road condition.The control system is developed based on Siemens PLC platform and equipped with the PC operating interface developed by InTouch software,to achieve the operation,safety and data processing trough experimental device.The driving torque is obtained by a torque sensor on the driving axle and the wheel sinkage is measured by a displacement sensor mounted at the center of the wheel.Finally,the processing,installation and commissioning of the experimental device are completed.One off-road tires was tested,and the test data is collected.Lastly,the effectiveness of the experimental device is verifiability.
