The construction of super high-rise buildings has become an effective measure to deal with the scarcity of land in the center of a big city now,and more efficient lateral force resisting members need to be used to satisify the demand of higher buildings.The double skin composite wall which shows excellent bearing capacity and ductility and is convenient for construction can meet the requirement of super high-rise buildings well,and because of this,more and more researchers start to work on it.The finite element model is studied in this paper as a supplement to the lack of experimental study of The double skin composite wall,and the following studies are carried out:1)Different kinds of computing models used in analysing reinforced concrete shear walls and the ways of simulating a shear wall in several popular softwares are introduced.2)The experimental phenomena of the existing experiments is summarized and the differences in the failure model of various forms of double skin composite walls are discussed.3)The layered shell model is built to simulate the double skin composite wall with medium and high span ratio under the lateral reciprocating loading in OpenSees,and it is verified to be efficient by comparing its results with the experimental results.The results showed that: the layered shell model can perform well and the hysteretic curve gained from it accords with the experimental results well.The lateral capacity gained from the layered shell model are about 80% of the experimental results,and the peak displacements are quite coincided with the experimental results.It shows that simulating the double skin composite wall with medium and high span ratio using the layered shell model could gain reliable results in OpenSees.4)The influence of the location of end separators on the bearing capacity and ductility of members is discussed,and the main conclusion to be drawn from the discussion is that the optimal location of end separators.5)Based on the material constitutive relations used in the layered shell model,the multiple-vertical-line-element model suitable for the double skin composite wall with medium and high span ratio is built,which can be used in elasto-plastic anslysis of double skin composite walls as a simplified model.6)As for the double skin composite wall with low span ratio,the truss model is built,and by comparing the results from truss model with layered shell model,it is proved that the truss model can be used in elastic anslysis instead of the refined model.
