Research On Lighting Design Methods Based On BIM Technology

As lighting design being a part of the architectural design system,architects and electrical engineers in the lighting design process need to communicate with each other in order to pursue a good indoor and outdoor lighting environment.In the traditional process,the lighting design and other related professional only began their work after architects finished their job.Many problems emerged during these processes.For example,architects are not always familiar with lighting knowledge and sometimes caused lighting designers trouble.Lighting designers and engineers also work separately which add even more trouble to final summarization.The integration issue in the construction industry needs to be solved.With the rise of building information modeling(BIM),architectural design is now in the information age.Building information modeling technology provides a platform,where architects,lighting designers,and engineers are given a better chance to work collaboratively.Through the summarization of the previous studies at home and abroad,combined with the traditional lighting design process and the advantages of building information model,this paper focused on an integrated lighting modeling design method.Through the study of status and standards of BIM-based design,and the characteristics of BIM software,we sorted the traditional design process as well as building information modeling from the current architectural design industry.On the basis of integrated design thinking,this paper proposed a design process of BIMbased lighting design and put forward several key points for cooperation with relevant specialists.Based on the advantages of the building information model software,we were able to develop a lighting component library and related component library,as well as their operating process,making BIM more adaptive to the lighting design.An actual project is introduced to verify the feasibility of the method.The stages of design and construction were considered to carry out summarizing and reflective thinking on both theoretical and practical sides.Under the trend of integrated design,this paper analyzed and summarized practices on software development and design processes,and put forward a set of lighting design methods as well as some suggestions for the further BIM-based API development.These efforts would serve as part of the base for integrated lighting information design,and would promote people to update from old habits to integration design.
