With the rapid development of digital technology,architects have more creative tools than ever before.These tools help architects emancipate from complex work so that they have more time and free space to engage in creativity works.However,when in face of some novel building shape and complex facades,architectsmay be only stopped at a simple appreciation and getting lost in various forms,if they don't get more in-depth understanding of performance behind therational factors or the logic process.Digital building facade is ever-changingin terms of the forms and numerous,but the broadest possible one must be the non-linear gradient facade undoubtedly.This paper is aiming at attractor interference to reflect on the formation logic of nonlinear gradient facade with a large number of nonlinear gradient facades and some famous digital architects' experiments.Try to probethe presentation format and underlying formationcauses in order to develop theformational mechanismof the complex facades.In this paper,the thinking model of nonlinear scientificand the research methods of architecture facade are combined,to discuss the gradient interference principle of trivial attactor and strange attactor.To conclude the different forms of gradient facade into several prototypes,and put forward six typical generationmotions of the nonlinear gradient facades.They are respectively referred to as retractable motion,sliding motion,rotational motion,folding motion,assigning motionand transformative motion.This paper summarizes a set of parametric design method to realize the nonlinear gradient facadebased on attractor interference trying to establish the perceptual view of the contemporary nonlinear gradient facade design,and point out its development trend.The study will possess dual significance in realistic and theoretical for researching the architectural facade,and provide a useful reference for the architectural creation in future.
