In complex conditions such as electric field,ultraviolet light,and pollution,the process of aging is inevitable in line composite insulators,and composite insulator aging can lead to its hydrophobic loss,even reduce the composite insulator pollution lightning pressure,improve the defiled flashover accident probability,which affects the reliable operation of power system.In order to improve the safety and reliability of transmission line operation,timely detection and avoid accidents composite insulator,we urgently need to carry out scientific and effective detection research of running status of composite insulator.At present,the existing performance evaluation method of composite insulator is not enough mature,hydrophobic and insulation performance of the law of composite insulator is unclear,it is also a need to solve the problem of both at home and abroad.This paper focuses on the data of overhead transmission line faults in Erdos Area during the past 2009-2016 years,which are listed and analyzed in the following categories.At the same time,the cause of the typical fault is dissected,and the mechanism of aging of composite insulator is found.In this paper,the evaluation method of Hydrophobic composite insulator and hydrophobic insulation condition is studied in depth.In the end,an effective test scheme for the assessment of water and hydrophobic aging of transmission lines in Ordos region was developed.The main findings are as follows:(1)The relationship between the aging of composite insulators and their surface hydrophobicity was studied,and the feasibility of standard aging with hydrophobicity was verified.The corresponding method or algorithm was also obtained.(2)A method of evaluating hydrophobicity of silicone rubber composite insulators by machine vision and image recognition technology is proposed,and the concept of on-line monitoring of composite insulators' aging state is realized by using this method.(3)Field applications were carried out.The hydrophobicity detection and aging state assessment of composite insulators for overhead transmission line of Erdos Electric Power Bureau are carried out.
