In the recent years,with the development of urban agglomerations,the intercity commuting demand is increasing.Intercity transit is considered as a link between the central city and the surrounding cities and towns.Compared with the urban public transit,the intercity bus line has a relatively long distance,with sparsely distributed stations.The passenger flow spatiotemporal distribution of the intercity bus line is significant unbalanced.Accordingly,the evaluation method of the urban transit system cannot reflect the characteristics of the intercity bus service.It is necessary to conduct the research on the efficiency of the intercity transit and its optimization.One of the important branches is to study how to improve the total transit ridership in the present intercity transit system to meet the intercity travel demand in.It can not only promote the interregional transportation but also strongly support the economic development of the urban agglomerations.This paper established the conceptual system of the intercity transit.Compared with urban transit and coach,the intercity bus can be categorized into two types by the operation mode and the service allocation.Statistics of more than 310 000 smart card data from 3 urban bus lines and 4 intercity bus lines in Beijing is analyzed to state the spatiotemporal distribution of the passenger flow and to discover the reasons of the unbalance.The quantitative analysis of the transit efficiency can measure the capacity and the level of the intercity bus service.The adaptability between the transit capacity and the passenger travel demand can be evaluated.The comprehensive evaluation with 6 indexes: the time imbalance degree,the peak time occupancy,the direction unbalance coefficient,the section imbalance degree,the bus line density and the average line utilization is proposed.Cosine decision is applied to analysis the transport efficiency.A comprehensive evaluation of 4 intercity lines in Beijing and Hebei province is calculated in five workdays.The flow of intercity buses has the characteristic of strong randomness and large change of range.The conventional scheduling methods which is changeless and backward is difficult to adapt the change of flow of intercity bus.A bus pooling scheduling model is established with the objective function of maximize the profit of transit enterprises and minimum the time cost of passenger.The comfort level of the passenger is considered in this model.The intercity line 811 is taken as a case study.Through the index of efficiency changes before and after optimization,the relationship between comfort index,enterprise profit and time cost is discussed in this paper.Based on the flow characteristics of intercity bus,this study established a quantitative analysis of transport efficiency.The transportation condition,passenger demand and development can be comprehensive evaluated in this study.In order to optimized the transportation efficiency,a dynamic flexible scheduling model is proposed.It can not only improve the profit of intercity bus enterprises,but also reduce the flow pressure of intercity travel surrounding the cities.It provides a policy support for the scientific and intelligent management of intercity transport.
