In order to improve compaction characteristics,shear strength,impermeability and other indicators of the Xiashu soil,a comparative study of magnetized water treatment soil samples and tap water treatment soil samples was conducted.Through compaction test,direct shear test and permeability test,the effect of magnetized water on various indexes of Xiashu soil is verified.The influencing mechanism was summarized by means of particle size analysis test,free expansion rate test,liquid plastic limit test and scanning electron microscopy observation.On the basis of the theory of structural softening proposed by predecessors based on the application of magnetized water to improved clayey soil,the theory of structural remodeling of Xiashu soil by magnetized water is obtained through theoretical analysis and experimental verification.A large number of tests show that magnetized water can improve many engineering indexes of soil,and it is feasible to use magnetized water to improve roadbed soil.The research results of this work are as follows:(1)The stronger dissolving ability of magnetized water is the key reason for the disintegration of aggregates in Xiashu soil.This dispersion makes some aggregates in Xiashu soil change into smaller size clay particles.Small size clay particles rearrange to form a larger number of small pore structures,and the contact points between particles increase.After degaussing by magnetized water,the structural strength of cementing material is strengthened by reconnection.(2)Based on Stokes'law,the expression of permeability coefficient K in Darcy's law is deduced by analyzing the principle of soil permeability,and the relationship between particle size and permeability coefficient is obtained.(3)The free expansion rate of Xiashu soil treated with magnetized water increases and the plas-tic index decreases compared with that treated with ordinary water.The results of particle analysis show that magnetized water can disperse the aggregates of Xiashu soil,and make some of them disperse into smaller particles.(4)Permeation test,direct shear test and compaction test verify the effect of magnetized water on the structural remodeling of Xiashu soil.The results show that the permeability coefficient of Xiashu soil sample can be reduced and the internal friction angle and cohesion can be increased by magnetizing water treatment under the same dry density.When the compaction conditions are the same,magnetized water can reduce the optimum moisture content and increase the maximum dry density of compacted samples.(5)By using scanning electron microscopy,the microstructure of Xiashu soil treated with magnetized water is more compact and the pore size is smaller than that of the soil treated without magnetized water.The microscopic mechanism of structure remodeling is intuitively explained.(6)Analyzing the inherent mechanism of magnetized water structure remodeling,and putting forward the concrete construction scheme suitable for engineering practice,providing theoretical basis for the application of magnetized water.
