Research Of Optimized Design Of Public Space In Traditional Villages From The Perspective Of Public Participation

Traditional villages are built spontaneously by villagers,whose characteristics reflect the process of continuous transformation and remodeling of natural environment by human beings.Public space is the skeleton of traditional villages.It is the important gathering place for villagers’ outdoor activities,production and daily life.During the process of protection and development of traditional villages,although the present public space have catered to villagers’ basic needs in daily life,the overall level of delevopment of public space cannot meet the need of people who pursue better living condition.Along with the rapid development of rural tourism,the design of public space not only intend to satisfy the villagers,but also the tourists’ demonds.The requirements of deisgn thus go beyond basic function,to meet the entertainment needs of tourists,and to arouse the rural affiliation.Among the public,the villagers who born and raised in the countryside are the owners of the village.And tourists are the rising force to promote the development of villages.The key issue of future development,that how to satisfy higher requirements of public space for villagers and tourists,is significant.Thus,I write this dissertation to study theories related to renovation of public space of traditional villages.The main object of the study is public space of Liugou Village in Beijing.By the exploration of theory of public participation,I hope the renovation of public space can better satisfy the requirements of villagers and tourists.In this dissertation,firstly I introduce the research background,objectives of research,domain of research,research method and related reviews.Then I classify the public spaces and analyze the difficulties and opportunities faced by some traditional villages.By discussing the significance of introducing public participation into the renovation of traditional village space,the dissertation combines the concept of public participation and traditional village space.In the following part I state the theory and mechanism of public participation by summarizing and analyzing of previous theories and cases,and improve the present mechanism to make it applicable to optimized design of public space.Finally,according to the current conditions of Liugou village,I propose the optimized design strategy for node space,linear space and square space,take the procedure of comprehending public needs into practice and form the design scheme.
