At present, with the improvement of people's safety and comfort requirements, the application of structural energy dissipation technology in building engineering is more and more widely. With the continuous development and application of new materials and technologies, various dampers have been developed.Compared with the traditional diagonal brace damper, the viscoelastic damping wall using high damping viscoelastic materials has broad application prospect in vibration control of buildings which has the advantages of cheap material, easy installation and disassembly, provide more open space and so on.But because of the viscoelastic damping wall layout and viscoelastic materials with novel properties of damping wall, mechanical properties and energy dissipation characteristics and viscoelastic material mechanics, especially the study of velocity correlation is not sufficient. Therefore,it is of great significance to study the mechanical properties of viscoelastic damping walls and the seismic effect in seismic engineering. This paper presents an experimental study on a new TRC viscoelastic damping wall(Total Response Control Damping Wall)including the basic mechanical performance test under different loading frequency, load, strain amplitude and temperature. The experiment shows the relationship between the equivalent shear modulus, the equivalent damping coefficient and the load amplitude, loading frequency and temperature. The results show that the viscoelastic mechanical properties are not correlated with the size, but also have a good correlation with the amplitude, temperature and frequency. When the strain amplitude reaches 400% of its own size,it can still work normally. When the maximum tensile stress reaches the maximum stress, the shear deformation can reach to 700%,and it will reach more than 800% until failure. The damping wall has good energy dissipation capacity under large and small deformation, which can be used for seismic response control and wind vibration control. On the basis of the above experiments, combined with the actual engineering example, this paper use structural analysis software to compare and analyze the seismic performance of TRC viscoelastic damping wall in the case of multiple and rare earthquake. The comparative analysis of damping structure and uncontrolled structure with the angle of floor displacement, inter story shear, energy dissipation and damping shows that the damping effect of the damping wall on the high-rise structure is better than that of the multilayer structure, the seismic performance under rare earthquake is better than that of frequently occurred earthquake.Due to the complex mechanical properties of viscoelastic materials used in TRC viscoelastic damping wall, and in order to explore the velocity-dependent of viscoelastic materials, this paper puts forward the experimental control method of fast loading test in the real-time substructure test system based on opensees, which make it possible to study the complex mechanical properties of viscoelastic materials.
