With the rapid development of urbanization in China,it was very common to appear the urban water logging caused by heavy rainfall. The rainstorm has exposed the shortage in the process of urban construction.Under this background, the concept of urban development of sponge city is put forward, which strive to minimize the destruction of the original ecological environment in urban development. The city can absorb and release rainwater like a sponge, full of elasticity and self cleaning effect, and can cope with various natural disasters.Compared to other types of construction in the city, colleges campus has the characteristics of large open space, many kinds of buildings, high population density and large demand for water resources.Construction and renovation of the sponge facilities in the colleges campus has a good experimental demonstration, which can not only eliminate the rain and flood disasters, set up rainwater recycling system, save water resources, but also can improve the campus environment, create a good campus scenery.Based on the summary of successful cases experience of sponge campus construction both at home and abroad, this paper take Xianyang Vocational Technical College in Xixian new area of Shaanxi Province as an example, analyzes the rainwater and flood problems of the campus, puts forward the construction goals, design ideas and renovation plan of sponge campus, and discusses the low impact development facilitiesfor buildings, squares, roads, greenbelts, water systems. The author also simulates the SWMM model to verify the practical effect of the plan.In a result, compared with the traditional pattern of the development, after the LID renovation, the peak runoff of catchment area is reduced by 76.5%,and TSS reduction rate ups to 76%,which basically reached the General requirements of Xixian new area "low impact development report of Fengxi new city core area".
