Tape spring has the property of restoring after large lateral deformation,which makes it widely used in developable structure.In the field of civil engineering,the recoverable structure can also be used to introduce this special component to realize the special function of recovery after large deformation.On this,this paper proposes a certain recoverable ability of C shape open cylindrical thin shell,adopt the method of numerical simulation and experimental research to lateral deformation properties of the recoverable C shell is studied.This paper mainly carries on the following work:(1)The basic concept of stability,the recoverable principle of C shell,the mechanism of instability and the finite element analysis method are described.Theoretical analysis and derivation are carried out on the anti-lateral performance and buckling load of the lateral deformation line of C shell.(2)The effects of various factors on the lateral deformation of C shell are explored,such as the connection mode of the two ends,the center Angle of the upper and lower connection plate,the radius,height,thickness and axial force of the C shell.Based on the theoretical formula and a large number of finite element data,the lateral thrust bearing capacity formula of the ideal C shell is fitted.The influence of different direction forces on the lateral deformation of C shell is studied.The anti-side formulas of different loading directions are proposed.The lateral recovery performance of C shell is explored.It can be found from the above analysis that different factors will cause the change of lateral deformation properties of C shell.(3)The influence of the initial defect on the lateral deformation of the C shell is explored by using the analysis of the defect modes and the geometrical defects based on the geometrical deviations of the actual specimens.Through simulation,it is found that C shell is sensitive to defects,especially geometric defects have great influence on lateral deformation of C shell.It is often easier to produce plasticity when the bearing capacity is increased.In practical application,it is necessary to control the corresponding factors reasonably according to the specific use target to achieve good performance.(4)Based on the numerical simulation,a series of C shell specimens of nine different sizes were designed and manufactured by a combination of various factors,and the lateral deformation test was carried out on the C shell.The lateral deformation and recovery performance of C shell can be recovered by experiment.The results show that C shell has good lateral recovery performance.Considering the combination effect of various factors,the finite element simulation of the test specimen is carried out.The feasibility of the finite element modeling analysis is verified by comparing with the experimental deformation and deformation curve,and the experimental results are analyzed by numerical simulation.The formula of lateral deformation capacity of the actual specimen is presented.Through the above work,the lateral deformability of the C shell can be analyzed and summarized,which lays a foundation for the application of C shell in civil engineering field.
